Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Meh. Sorry, I wish I could say better but everything from the moment w walked in the door was pretty mediocre. They acted like we were bothering them when we walked through the door. Although my server did give me everything that I "needed" she was not the least bit personable. The food, well...Not much to write home about. Seriously too expensive for being so bland. I won't return for sure.

Staff good. Facility nice. Food is inconsistent and not that great. I've been here a few times. The facility is fairly new, well decorated and very clean. The staff has been helpful and polite. The chips have always been delicious, free flowing and when we have kids with us they bring 2 kinds of salsa medium and mild. I usually get chili relleno, flautus or enchilada ect witcbut tonight my wife and I went for Carne Asada and Fajitas. Some how they mixed up her order and got chicken instead of beef and my Carne Asada was barely edible. I am not someone who sends food back to the kitchen so I choked it down despite my wife's insistence. I do realize that depending on the cook or the owner or whatever they may think that burnt tough and barley seasoned meat passes for carne Asada but it doesn't. That should be the Mexican restaurants signature dish. One could say well what does a white guy who lives in west Linn know about good Mexican food? Not only do I work with a pair of Mexican fellows who 3-4 times a year make Asada tacos at work I also lived in a farming town that was 40-50% Hispanic with top notch Mexican food everywhere.

I like this place. Good lunch specials. Not the most amazing food, but it's tasty. I haven't found many awesome restaurants in West Linn but Ixtapa is normally a safe bet if you keep your expectations real!

I won't be going here any longer. There service was terrible, the food was freezer heat up food and tasted like mush, and the over all atmosphere had nothing to offer as well. For me I have had much better mexican food from AZTECA or Juan Colorados :) enjoy !!

It had been a long day, and we were delighted to refuel at Ixtapa. Service was attentive, the cool indoor temperature was a respite from the heat, and we were pleased. Our dinners were pleasant tasting but fell short of impressive. It was the first time we'd visited, and we'll visit again. If this restaurant is conveniently located for you, I think it's worth exploring. If you seek the very best in Mexican fare, be advised this is good but not great.

Coming from a latina this is okay Mexican food. Drinks are good but nothing really great about it.

The hottest plates in town. The food is served with a lot of lettuce.

By far the best salsa around the area. We eat here regularly and have never had bad food. Some servers are better than others. We definitely get good service as regulars, they all recognize us now. This is the only Mexican restaurant we eat at in the Gladstone/Oregon City/West Linn area because their food is the most consistently good.

For this tier of restaurant, it is a good place to eat. Service was good, though not overly friendly. Not the most attentive to having a toddler, but the kids' food came quickly. Our meals were good. They have proper Mexican food.

Amazing Mexican food!! My husband and I have been searching for a good Mexican restaurant for years and outside of the one at Sunriver Oregon this is tops! It even tastes like the one at Sunriver Oregon so we are happy campers! Everything we had was delicious and we will definitely become regulars!

This is by far the worst costumer service I have ever had. I have had food allergies my entire life, and always before I order anything I make sure the waiter understands what things I'm allergic to. It have never had a problem, and if one arises, I just exchange my meal for something different. When I made my order our server assured me that the entree I selected had none of my allergies in it. Three bites into my meal, my face and throat started to swell up to the point where I had to leave the restaurant for some fresh air. Meanwhile my husband told the waiter what had happened and asked if we could get something different. He said he would be right back. A couple minutes later the owner showed up to our table and not only refused to do anything about it but started to argue with my husband all the while I was outside wheezing. My husband then came out to discuss the situation with me and when we went back into the restaurant, they had put all discussion aside and went ahead and billed us for our meal! My husbands plate wasn't half finished and my plate was full of food that I could not eat. I was in disbelief. Once again we requested to speak with the owner and once again he started to argue with us. It eventually got to the point were we were both so frustrated we just left the restaurant. There was no getting through to that guy. Arguing with someone who has clearly had a bad allergic reaction to your food in your restaurant is the most ridiculous thing you could ever do as a restaurant owner. End of story. Worst restaurant experience I have ever had.

This is going to hurt since one of the best dining experiences of my life was at the Stayton Ixtapa. The bench seat i sat on was broken and tore up, but i was forgiving. The staff were decent. The margarita was HEAVY on the awful commercial sweet n sour mix. The garnish on the plate was unidentifiable, but the plate was nuclear-hot. So one star for hot food. Its a great location. What a shame.

Solid B to B+ Mexican food.

Ixtapa is phenomenal!!! I love this restaurant! I have been going here since I was 8 years old!! Now being 23 I am still a regular there! The one in Stayton is hands down the BEST! The salsa is amazing!! Super friendly staff and strong drinks! You won't be disappointed!

The newly re-opened restaurant is all sparkly and bright and sits in the corner of the new development off I-205 at the 10th Street exit. A great location for those jonesing for the 'decent' Mexican in the area. I say decent because I used to come here quite often until they tore down the entire structure about a year ago to rebuild. The only choice for Mexican in the area is currently another place on Willamette Falls Drive. I think Ixtapa will quickly put them out of business. Nothing super fancy here. Just decent Americanized Mexican food served hot and quickly for a decent price. I walked over for lunch and was back in the office in 40 minutes...and there were at least another 12-15 people in the place. I love when Mexican restaurants look like Mexican restaurants. You know, colorful walls, multi-colored tiles, lots of wood. And even better when they actually play Mexican music. The best of all possible worlds! Other pluses: Great chips and salsa, and one of the waitstaff constantly coming around re-filling the water glasses.
